On June 29, the Task Force on Financial Stability, organized by the Hutchins Center at Brookings and the Initiative on Global Markets at the Chicago Booth School of Business, released a report that focuses on the U.S. Treasury market, open-end mutual funds, housing finance, derivatives clearinghouses, and life insurance companies. The report also provides recommendations on ways to strengthen the regulatory structure and process.
Task force co-chairs Glenn Hubbard and Don Kohn presented the task force’s findings and convened a discussion that included task force members Kathryn Judge, Anil Kashyap, and Blythe Masters along with comments from Jeremy Stein and Randy Kroszner. David Wessel, Director of the Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy, moderated the discussion.
